ARTS

Stafford Jones Learning Institute recognizes the critical role music plays in every child’s life. Just as exercise improves physical health, music stimulates the brain’s potential and unleashes the child’s creativity. While we have tailored music and visual arts programs for lower, middle, and upper school children, we also use art and music in therapeutic interventions.

LOWER SCHOOL MUSIC

Children are exposed to melody, harmony, rhythm, form, and creative expression through singing, movement, instruments, and dance. Children learn fundamental aspects while exploring, improvising, imitating, and creating music. We set them on the path to find new ways of expressing themselves and a lifetime of creating and enjoying music.

MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC

Music education is not just an extracurricular activity but is proven to offer tremendous academic benefits. We offer a wide range of options for middle school students, including vocal, piano, strings, woodwinds, and much more. Our music education faculty works closely with the child and the family to ensure the program serves their musical needs.

UPPER SCHOOL MUSIC

Students in secondary school have numerous opportunities to improve and expand their musical knowledge and skills.  From the chorus, string orchestra, group guitar to winds ensemble, choir, secondary school students have a wide choice of music electives. The classes focus on music reading, technique, and ensemble performance while students have a chance to participate in recitals and concerts.

LOWER SCHOOL VISUAL ARTS

We offer visual arts classes that introduce children to patterns, texture, design concepts, drawing, collage, and sculpture, enabling young artists to discover their creative identities. With a combination of after-school and in-school visual arts activities, we ensure the art experience is highly enjoyable and educational for children.

MIDDLE SCHOOL VISUAL ARTS

Students learn advanced concepts such as proportion, harmony, and balance while working on three-dimensional art forms, including ceramics and sculpture. Advanced tools, art appreciation, and art history are integrated into the curriculum to guide the students to excel at visual arts.

UPPER SCHOOL VISUAL ARTS

The Upper School, Visual Arts program celebrates personal expression, creativity, and imagination of students. Unique course offerings enable students to hone their graphics, drawing, 3D sculpture, painting, metalwork, and film-making skills. While an array of equipment and tools are available to students, art exhibitions and trips to galleries enhance their understanding of art.
